I know it should be top twelve but the American Idol judges threw us a right curve and allowed four instead of the three contestants on the wild card round tonight. Deliberating quickly, the judges selected Jasmine Murray, Joy Corkrey, Matt Giraud and my personal favorite Anoop Desai through to the final round. They join Adam Lambert, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey, Jorge Nuñez, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre. Unlike the four finalists announced Thursday night, these nine finalists were determined by vote of "Idol" viewers. The 13 finalists begin the final leg of their quest to win the title of American Idol glory next Tuesday at 7PM on Fox.

Tatiana Del Toro was back to her old crazy self Thursday night, bringing to the stage her annoying laugh and a new inflection in her speaking voice. Paula was quick to remark, "You've grown an accent I've never heard before." Kara was amused by the Puerto Rican's eagerness to adopt yet another stage persona. Kara asked, "Today is a new personality. Who is this?" I really liked her voice but she is just a little too crazy even for me. What do you think of the top 13?
It does suck that Tatiana didn't get in. She had a voice!!!
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad there are so many others that agree with me; Tatiana over Ju'not and Felicia? What a travesty! How insulting! They certainly deserve better. I agree too, that just because Scott is blind and has had a hard life, that does not make him on an equal with some of the other fantastic voices that we have heard. This is one 'former fan' that won't be watching anymore.
ReplyDeleteThank you... my sentiments exactly. This show is so lame. The guys chosen tonight are SOOOO boring! I don't care if the guy is partially blind... his performance was NOT GOOD. He sang Bruce Hornsby and terribly (if Hornsby is not bad enough). If he were not partially blind, he NEVER would have made it. Ju'not was awesome and Jorge was a snore. He is a tool. It's almost like they chose the most snoozerific performers on purpose. I thought Archeleta was bad enough... Wow. Does ANYBODY have ANY taste? I decided tonight that I will not watch this season, also.
ReplyDeleteAs one of the judges remarked, the winner of American idol can well come from the wild card round.I agree this year's class is not as what we have seen over the past years.I am sure the judges have found their idol, but then again its all up to the public.Anoop is the only real talent this year and the judges know it.Good Luck! ANOOOP.
ReplyDeleteWhat a forward question...I don't believe I'm deaf/musically deaf and just because I agreed with the judges' choices, it doesn't necessarily mean I agree that the Wild Card contestants were the best singers left from the twenty-seven other hopefuls (if it were up to vocals alone, Kristen McNamara would have easily made it imo). Other factors contributed to the judges' decision and that I can see. It could be the likability factor of a contestant/personality/good attitude, marketability, stage presence, originality and versatility. For example, Jasmine did not give the best performance by a mile during Top 36, but she's in and I agree with this decision because I do see potential in her. If she does well in this competition, and perhaps win, I can already see her fan base, which are tweens-late teens. The judges think long-term instead of short; who will make decent records in the future and whose album will the public buy/which artist will the public take interest in?
ReplyDeleteNow, about Tatiana, I also agree with the judges keeping her in the competition for 1. She can sing 2. She is beautiful 3. She is pure entertainment and gives people something to talk about (this forum is proof of that) which the show loves. Does it mean I like her? not really. I don't usually write paragraphs in forums, but I hope I made it clear why I said what I said. I'm sad she is gone.
This is, indeed, a boring season. In my opinion, 6 of the top 9 shouldn't even be there. Scott, is an ok singer, but I honestly think his spot should've went to someone else. I appreciate his story and hardship, but I'm pretty sure the idea of the show was to find someone with the best singing talent, not the one with the saddest, yet most inspirational story. The 8 that were picked in the wildcard group gave me a headache; Tatiana?! That was truly a ratings move which just proved to me that the producers KNOW the show sucks so far, and what better way to give us entertainment than to bring back the most annoying person on t.v for 2009 thus far. Thanks Simon and the other dumb judges. This is what your all-night pacing came up with?! I thank God for the DVR because I will be fast-forwarding my ass off come Tuesday night.
ReplyDeletewhat WAS Tatiana wearing!?!?!
ReplyDeleteI think she was trying to make her hips look enormous, and if that's the case, she did a great job!
ReplyDeleteTatiana said it herself in her video. When she came to audition, there were so many people, she [he he he] just didn't know [he he he] if she would make it to audition, so she decided to wear the craziest dress so they might notice her and she might get chosen. I now get it, this is the craziest dress contest. Jackie is one I would have chosen, but there are a lot of good voices. I like Adam also.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%. This is a competition that is based on talent. And how many times has the judges said that. Tatiana should have never been brought back as well as the first guy they called down on the stage for the Wild Card show. I am so furious I can't even remember his name. Two of the spots last night should have been Juno and Felicia. This is why I start to wonder if the votes really do make a difference, or is someone changing things around to benefit them?
ReplyDeletethis is why she didn't get through: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Olq67Knuz8
