In a year where Lil' Wayne sold over 1 million copies in a week and great artists like Nas, N.E.R.D., Christina Aguilera, Danity Kane, Jesse McCartney, Lloyd, Michelle Williams, Nelly, Ashanti, Nickelback, Pink, James Blunt, Natasha Bedingfield, Pussycat Dolls, J. Holiday, Colby O'Donis, Soulja Boy, One Republic, Maroon 5, Robin Thicke, Panic at the Disco, Ludacris, Brandy, Matchbox Twenty, Jennifer Hudson, Solange and Usher all failed to sell that much in a year is crazy. Billboard Magazine just called the compact disk DEAD! CD sales are down 23% from 2000 and they are expected to go down more every year.

Artist Highlight: Robyn

Who: Swedish pop queen Robyn, who eschewed a career as the Scandinavian Jessica Simpson on her way to becoming Sweden's Gwen Stefani. Ten years after abandoning the spotlight following her hit "Show Me Love," the singer is back with a self-titled album that both indie rock geeks and Top 40 radio listeners can enjoy.

Sounds Like: A platinum blonde synthesis of Britney Spears and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O, except Swedish. With a team of songwriters and producers that include the Knife, the Teddybears and Kleerup, Robyn explains her new album is "pop music, but it's OK to like it." Singles like "With Every Heartbeat" and "Be Mine!" have already conquered European charts and seem poised to have similar luck here.

FYI: Robyn linked up with pop hit machine Max Martin before the songwriter wrote Britney Spears' "... Baby One More Time." However, "It was frustrating for me to be a teen star," says Robyn, explaining why she canceled a planned tour with the Backstreet Boys that would've jettisoned her to superstardom. Surprisingly, you can hear Robyn on Britney's latest tracks, "Piece of Me" and "Womanizer".

Why you need to buy her CD: Because "I'm so very hot that when I rob your mansion, you don't call the cops you call the fire-station." Now when will Lil' Wayne or Taylor Swift ever be this creatively cool? YouTube any of her videos and you will be addicted.
