and End Violence Against Women
I decided to do this post on domestic abuse because it is something I cannot ignore. Christina Aguilera has a song on the topic titled, "I'm Ok" on her sophomore album Stripped. In the song she sings, "Bruises fade father, but the pain remains the same, I still remember how kept me so afraid, my strength is my mother for all the love she gave, every morning that I wake I look back and I'm Ok. Do you understand the damage you have done, for you its just a memory but for me the memory still lives on."
I was inspired by Christina Aguilera's work with various battered women's shelters and now being a mother she was quoted in Elle saying, "Now more than ever do I understand my responsibility to help people not just women in these horrible predicaments. I was in that same spot you were many years ago, and I would rather be damned than to let someone go through that without some help." She is now the global ambassador for the organization End Violence Against Women along with Nicole Kidman, Alicia Keys and Reese Witherspoon.
Here are some public service announcement ads that Christina Aguilera and David La Chapelle recently shot for the campaign:

ReplyDeleteI saw the PSA's on tv the other day and I am very happy to see them, a lot of people just do not think of verbal abuse as anything and honestly sometimes words hurt so much more than a punch.
