Movie Spotlight: Gran Torino

It is sad that this will be Clint Eastwood's last acting role but fortunately for us it won't be his last movie that he directs. Gran Torino is Clint Eastwood at his best. He plays Walt, an armed forces vet, who has to deal with his changing neighborhood. The racist Walt is now surrounded by Hmong immigrants and is not too pleased. He is stuck in his own ways and doesn't adapt to the changing America. Gran Torino, which is named after Walt's prized car, shows how Walt comes to appreciate and respect his neighbors' culture and lifestyle.

Eastwood is excellent in the title role . He is able to express so much anger and hostility with a scowl or a growl. The movie is also quite funny as Walt doesn't hold back his politically incorrect language. The largely unknown cast that plays the Hmong family does a credible job. The movie is definitely worth seeing and should definitely receive some Oscar buzz. For those who have seen this movie won't you agree that Clint Eastwood went out in a very unexpected manner?
