Okay although Diddy is not a new artist and Dawn was a part of Danity Kane I totally get your logic here...they are a new group "Dirty Money" and both their songs are amazing. Thanks for sharing the love. Also The Lonely Island!!! Love them!
I am not a country music fan. With that said, I absolutely love this band. Watched the video and I said to myself, I hope the fame that this band will get in the future won’t change them. I hope they stay down to earth. That’s why I like them so much.
I love Zack Brown Band, best band to come out in a LONG time. Completely versatile, incredible musicians, great vocal harmonies, original music. They appeal to a really wide variety of people.
I love Keri Hilson so much> here is what I found on People.com today:
Sure she's penned hits for Britney Spears and Usher and now has a best new artist Grammy nomination, but before taking the music scene by storm, Keri Hilson was involved in a little circus act.
"I taught myself to juggle around [age] 11," the singer tells PEOPLE with a giggle. "I've always been pretty coordinated, but I won't do it on stage. I'd get way too nervous."
She may have to pull out her juggling chops to keep another Grammy nominee, Lady Gaga, on her toes. The two are set to perform at Dick Clark's Rocking New Year's Eve. "We played each other our first singles before she released and I released," recalls Hilson, 27, of the girls' history. "We hooked up on a chance meeting in the studio with Rodney Jerkins."
One thing that wasn't by chance? Hilson's rise to fame this year. The Atlanta native's album In a Perfect World… produced hit singles "Turnin Me On" and "Knock You Down" and debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Her Grammy nomination, she says, is the cherry on top. "It's a dream come true. I was fighting back tears. My phone died and when I charged it back I heard 'new message, new message.' Text messages from people telling me congrats would not stop for almost a minute straight."
The music industry has been dead for over a decade. Autotone was the last nail in the coffin. It made it so "artists" don't even have to know how to sing anymore. When Brittney Spears had her first hit I knew that there was no coming back.
Who's the new flavor of the month/year? Taylor Swift? The latest in precisely manufactured "music". She has the girl next door look. She's pretty and beautiful, but not too sexy. She is absolutely bathed in innocence. She's so sweet. She loves her Daddy and Jesus. She sings about Romeo and Juliet getting married. Her songs are the epitome of cliche pop garbage. Blech.
I think the term "music industry" as it refers to the business is an oxymoron. It's not about music anymore. It's about who looks good and can sell the most to middle school/high school kids.
Another example, don't worry it will be the last, of how music producers need to be clubbed mercilessly. The band The Offspring had the best selling independent album of all time in Smash. My personal opinion, the whole album rocked! They got hitched to a major label. Then they came out with "Pretty Fly for a White Guy". Again, Bleecchhh.
